Elena Vorontsova

Recipient of the medal of the order For Services to the Fatherland

 

After graduating from the Leningrad Academic Vaganova School of Dance in 1976 (class of Natalia Dudinskaya) she joined the Leningrad Kirov Theatre of Opera and Ballet (renamed the Mariinsky Theatre in 1992).

 

She performed solo roles in the ballets La Bayadère (Trio of Shades), Don Quixote (Flower Seller), The Sleeping Beauty (Frolicsome Fairy, Courage Fairy, Sapphire Fairy), The Stone Flower (Jewel Dance) and Chopiniana (Eleventh Waltz) among others. Teacher and coach with the Mariinsky Ballet since 2001, where she works with the corps de ballet. Teaches classical dance at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
